Our 3rd year medical students participated at the 5th International Student Congress in Graz, Austria on 25-27 May 2017. Our medical students Muhamed El-Amin Zeid and Aladin Mrzić presented a scientific research paper made as part of the Physiology and Immunology Student Research Group at Sarajevo Medical School that is mentored by prof.dr. Mirza Ibrišimović, Assistant Professor at Sarajevo Medical School.
The title of the paper in question is: "Protein extraction from human white blood cells under influence of donor-related factors". Its authorsa and equal contributors are students Amar Balihodžić, Haris Henić, Nedim Maltez, Aladin Mrzić, Emin Musić, Zulejha Omerbašić, Abdallah Salhab, Muhammed El-Amin Zeid, Nadira Ibrišimović Mehmedinović and Velid Salihović, with prof.dr. Semira Galijašević, Dean of Sarajevo Medical School and prof.dr. Mirza Ibrišimović.
Our student representatives were selected to be in the Hematology group together with participants from different universities and research centers from all over the world who were there as well to present their research work. They pointed out that the Congress was very well organized. The offered workshops were very useful - they learnt abdominal sonography, surgical suturing, etc. They were also introduced to professors and researchers, who presented opportunities to which they can apply and do more work as part of SSST's research groups.
The International Student Congress (ISC) of the Medical University of Graz (Austria) brings together students from Bachelor studies, Master degrees, PhD programs as well as Diploma studies of medicine and related life sciences. Participants are offered a chance to present the results of their scientific work and discuss them with their peers, together with the support of leading experts. It's an opportunity to talk about the most recent findings, share experiences and make new connections.
