MEDIA REPORTS: GRADUATION CEREMONY 2016 AT…

TEACHING AT SARAJEVO SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Date: March 13th, 2017

As part of the current academic exchange programme with our partner university, the University of Buckingham,  Dr. Naseer Al-Jawad, Senior Lecture in Computer Science at the Applied Computing Department of the University of Buckingham, spent a couple of weeks at SSST where he held lectures in Computer Networks and Telecommunications. He was hosted by our CSIS Departments and its faculty, particularly Dr. Džejla Međedović, Vice Dean of Graduate Programme and Dr. Belma Ramić-Brkić, Vice Dean of Undergarduate Programme. Dr. Al-Jawad was kind enough to share the story about his unique SSST experience.

„In the beginning, I would like to thank all the staff in SSST for their warm welcoming and the friendly environment they are providing me, and this made my staying delightful and fruitful. I am honoured to accept the kind invitation for the second time in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems to participate in teaching the second-year module “Computer Networks and Telecommunications”.

My experience in the teaching for the two weeks in SSST is unique; I found the module leader is very understanding and we had a very lengthy discussion on how to teach the Network module and how we can mix different ways/styles of teaching from both universities to most benefit the students. Both the module lecturers in SSST and Buckingham to keep in touch and exchange ideas in the way of teaching and assess the module.

From the student point of view; I found the students have sufficient resources to maintain their study. In both years I found the students are very attentive, they interact very well with the subject and with me as a lecturer. During the practical, all the students follow the given instructions very well and try hard to implement the given task altogether. They always ask evocative questions which reflect their interest and understanding of the subject. I always feel that they are eager to learn and can be challenged to achieve more complex tasks.Comparing SSST students with our students in Buckingham, I feel the student level is nearly the same, and both universities are proud to have this collaborative work running for many years now.

I am wishing the students and their esteemed staff here in SSST all the best in their future and wishing them all the success in their academic and professional achievements.
