Zlatko Hadžidedić received his PhD („Forced to be Free: the Paradoxes of Liberalism and Nationalism“) in political science from the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Political Science. He is currently an Assistant Professor of the Political Science and International Relations Department at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology. His work is in the fields of nationalism studies, political theory, and international relations. His research has received wide national and international coverage. He also served as political adviser to the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia-Herzegovina (2006-2011), the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina (2005-2006), the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (2003-2005), as well as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina (1994-1998). Zlatko serves on the board of the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

  • Assistant Professor - Faculty of Political Science and International Relations (2015 to 2018)
    • Designed and developed lesson plans for various subjects and enhanced students’ academic growth by using varied teaching strategies and techniques, providing solid academic foundation and positive attitude toward education. Evaluated students’ performance through class observation, student-teacher conferencing, peer evaluations, checklists, and portfolios. Designed new syllabi for six subjects and successfully taught 12 different courses in short span of six semesters.
  • Assistant Professor - Faculty of Political Science (2012 to 2013)
    • Developed course plans to meet student’s academic and intellectual needs and in line with institutional requirements. Streamlined instructional processes and introduced process improvements that enhanced learning outcomes for the subjects of Contemporary Theories of Nationalism as well as Nationalism and Conflicts in the Process of Globalisation.
  • Political Adviser to the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees (2006 to 2011)
    • Provided general and political advice to the Minister through development of long-term strategic projections on country’s development within specific area. Formulated a proposal for country's new constitution and drafted laws. Developed clear, specific, and ambitious performance targets, evaluated progress of programmes and initiatives, and adjusted strategy and approach accordingly to achieve success.
    • Organised and managed election campaigns for a political party and enabled the party to emerge as the second largest in the country.
    • Formulated a proposal for new constitution and provided to the political party for submission in parliament.
    • Identified and developed a mutually agreeable police model and designed contract for two of country’s political leaders on police reforms “Protocol Dodik-Silajdžić”, encouraging Bosnia signed Pre-Accession Agreement with NATO.
  • Political Adviser to the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina (2005-2006)
    • Provided Minister with political oversight and ‘high-quality advice on policy proposals and submissions received in line with the ministry’s goals. Delivered input, as required, into the Ministry’s strategic planning and promoted a culture of high performance and excellence.
    • Advised the president of a political party as well as various of members of the Parliament on negotiations related to constitutional amendments with an aim to protect country’s constitutional order.
  • Additional experience as Campaign Manager (General Elections) at The Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina (Stranka za BiH), Sarajevo; Political Adviser to the Vice-Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH for Government of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sarajevo; Campaign Manager (Local Elections) for The Party for BosniaHerzegovina (Stranka za BiH); Foreign Policy Analyst for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina (Council of Ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sarajevo); Chief of Staff/Political Adviser/Spokesperson for Office of the President of the Muslim-Bosniak Organisation.
