Final Event of the UNIGEM Project

On March 19, the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) took part in the closing ceremony of the UNIGEM project, marking a significant step in the university’s commitment to gender equality. The event, led by SSST UNIGEM coordinator Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić Telalović, highlighted the collective achievements of the project’s four-year journey, which included the development of Gender Action Plans, the creation of new academic modules, and the execution of over 500 training sessions. A ceremony was held to mark the conclusion of the UNIGEM project, in which the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) participated. The final event was attended by the SSST UNIGEM coordinator, Prof. Dr Jasminka Hasić Telalović.

During the event, the four-year work of all partner universities was presented, highlighting their institutional implementation and development of Gender Action Plans, the establishment of gender equality committees and centres, the creation of new courses and modules, the organisation of summer and winter schools, the execution of over 500 training sessions for students, teaching, and administrative staff, as well as the publication of more than 20 books to support teaching processes.

This is not the end of a mission and vision, but rather the beginning of a newly established academic network that has built strong foundations for more active engagement in promoting gender equality among universities.

SSST UNIGEM, along with the EDIRE project, serves as an additional tool to strengthen SSST University’s institutional commitment to fostering an academic environment of equality, diversity, inclusion, and research empowerment.

We extend our gratitude to the TPO Foundation for coordinating and taking responsibility for these changes, as well as to the Government of the United Kingdom for recognising and supporting the significance of this project.
