EUMIG-BiH International Summer School Successfully Concluded at SSST
The EUMIG-BiH International Summer School, organised within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module Migration, Integration and Governance in Bosnia and Herzegovina – EU Standards and Local Challenges, has successfully concluded at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST).
Over the course of five intensive days, participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds engaged in a dynamic programme dedicated to exploring contemporary migration governance, EU norm alignment, and regional migration challenges in the Western Balkans.
The Summer School brought together students, researchers, and practitioners through a rich combination of academic lectures, interactive workshops, policy simulations, and institutional field visits. Participants had the opportunity to critically engage with key topics including media narratives on migration, Bosnia and Herzegovina as a transit country, EU integration and labour mobility, and the externalisation of EU migration policies.
A particularly valuable component of the programme was the practical exposure through visits to key migration-related institutions and direct engagement with professionals working in the field, allowing participants to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life policy and governance challenges.
In addition to strengthening academic understanding, the Summer School fostered critical thinking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and practical skills development in areas such as policy analysis, migration governance, and crisis response. Through reflection-based learning and collaborative discussions, participants were encouraged to examine migration through the lens of human rights, EU values, and regional realities.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all lecturers, guest speakers, institutional partners, and participants whose commitment and engagement made this year’s Summer School a meaningful and successful experience.
As part of the EUMIG-BiH mission, the Summer School continues to strengthen academic and public debate on migration policy while promoting EU standards, evidence-based dialogue, and practice-oriented learning.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and welcoming future participants in upcoming EUMIG-BiH activities.
