SSST Professor Jasminka Hasić-Telalović Represents Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 10th Berlin Process Joint Science Conference

Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) highlights the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić-Telalović, who was one of only two experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina invited to participate in a personal capacity (ad personam) at the 10th Berlin Process Joint Science Conference, held from 12 to 14 October 2026 in Podgorica, Montenegro.

The conference was organized by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, in cooperation with the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts and the University of Montenegro. The event brought together representatives of the scientific and academic communities, policymakers, and experts in research and innovation from across the Western Balkans and Europe.

The conference served as an important platform for regional dialogue and cooperation, with a particular focus on strengthening scientific collaboration, advancing higher education, and fostering innovation across the Western Balkans. Discussions aimed to develop strategic recommendations for the upcoming Western Balkans Summit, emphasizing the essential role of science, research, and education in the region's long-term development and European integration.

Contribution to Regional Scientific Dialogue

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić-Telalović's participation was particularly noteworthy, as she was the only participant invited to contribute to two conference sessions, addressing key issues for the region's future development: the transformation of higher education and the strengthening of innovation ecosystems.

These sessions explored the challenges and opportunities facing universities and research institutions, including the need to modernize higher education, strengthen cooperation between academia and industry, and create environments that support scientific research, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.

Her contribution to both sessions highlights the importance of academic expertise in shaping discussions on the future of education and innovation in the Western Balkans.

Strengthening the Role of Science and Higher Education in the Western Balkans

The Berlin Process Joint Science Conference provides an important opportunity for knowledge exchange, the identification of shared regional priorities, and the development of evidence-based recommendations that can contribute to future policies and initiatives.

Through discussions on higher education reform and the development of innovation ecosystems, participants addressed issues essential to building a more competitive, interconnected, and knowledge-driven region.

The participation of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina in such initiatives ensures that the experiences, knowledge, and perspectives of the country's academic and scientific communities are represented in broader European discussions.

SSST's Participation in International Academic Initiatives

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić-Telalović's participation in the Berlin Process Joint Science Conference represents another example of SSST's academic staff engaging in international scientific and educational initiatives.

Through such activities, the University continues to contribute to knowledge exchange, international academic cooperation, and discussions on the development of higher education, research, and innovation across the region.
