Envisioning the Future: SSST Held National Foresight Workshop within HMI2Market Project
On June 12th, the University SSST hosted a national foresight workshop as part of the Horizon Europe project HMI2Market and its task 2.1: IVAP development via integrated strategic foresight. The event gathered key national stakeholders to reflect on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the lens of education, technology, the labour market, and broader societal change – all with the horizon set on the year 2035.
The workshop featured valuable contributions from Mirela Bilić, representing the City of Sarajevo, and Miron Lukač from Bloomteq, who helped guide discussions on the trends and disruptions likely to shape the years ahead. The discussion explored how emerging technologies could impact the economy, how the nature of work is expected to change, and which societal, environmental, or regulatory challenges could arise in the coming decade.
In the second part of the workshop, participants collaborated to imagine the ideal role of higher education institutions in this envisioned future. Key topics included the long-term social and economic impact of education, the skills future generations will need to thrive, and the importance of building inclusive and cooperative systems that connect universities with the needs of society.
At the close of the event, SSST compiled a summary of key findings relevant to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will contribute to long-term planning and strategic development in the higher education sector.
