SSST Participates in the Opening of SDG Week 2026 in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Prof. Dr. Nedim Celebic, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST), participated as a keynote speaker and panelist at the opening of the 6th Sustainable Development Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo under the theme “Lead the Change.”

Evidence-Based Strategic Decision-Making as a Foundation for Sustainable Development

During his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Celebic emphasized the importance of evidence-based strategic decision-making, particularly in the context of local community development.

Special attention was given to Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs), which serve as valuable instruments for monitoring progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), identifying development priorities, and designing effective local strategies.

By integrating reliable data, analytical approaches, and strategic planning, local communities can make more informed decisions, optimize available resources, and develop long-term solutions that contribute to a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.

Strengthening Dialogue and Cooperation for a Sustainable Future

The opening of Sustainable Development Week brought together representatives of local governments, international organizations, and development partners, creating an important platform for exchanging experiences, sharing best practices, and strengthening cooperation.

The event highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, while emphasizing the need for development policies that respond to the actual needs and priorities of local communities.

The initiative is supported by Sweden through the SDG2030BiH Joint United Nations Programme, implemented by UNDP, ILO, IOM, and UNICEF under the coordination of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
