Dr. Jana Jevtić visiting scholar University of California at Berkeley

We are proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, Prof. Dr. Jana Jevtić from the Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) Department has joined the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley) as a Visiting Scholar. Prof. Dr. Jevtić is conducting her research at the Anthropology Department under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Charles Hirschkind, one of the leading names in the study of mass media and contemporary Islamic practice. At UC Berkeley, Prof. Dr. Jevtić is completing her book, provisionally titled “The Duty of Resistance: Ethnography of BDS Activism among Europe’s Muslims.” This is the first book to connect the growing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement with the conditions and transformations of “being Muslim” in Europe. Prof. Dr. Jevtić will return to Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) for the Fall 2019 semester, where she plans to share her expertise as part of her “Religion, Society, and Politics” course.
