ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH H.E. MR. EDWARD FERGUSON AT SSST

It was an immense honour to welcome another esteemed guest at our university - H.E. Mr. Edward Ferguson, the British Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our students and faculty had the opportunity to join a roundtable discussion with H.E. Mr. Ferguson on Thursday, 16 November 2017 in the P12 auditorium on the ground floor.

H.E. Mr. Ferguson enjoyed a tour around our Campus and was impressed by the cutting-edge laboratoris, classrooms and equipment. After a brief address by His Excellency, our students took the opportunity to actively participate in a discussion on the topics of education, potentials for growth and development in B&H, EU integrations and the issues of young people and the citizens of B&H. Ambassador Ferguson was eager to hear their views and happy to answer their questions, which made this event a very successful open discussion.

SSST's founder and president academician Ejup Ganić contributed to the discussion along with Prof.Dr. Zlatko Hadžidedić and Prof. Dr. Marko Attila Hoare from the Department of Political Science and International Relations and Prof.Dr. Mirsada Čaušević from our Medical School.

Ambassador Ferguson was pleased and impressed to hear about the ambitious plans for building the Institute for Medical Sciences at SSST. Professor Ganic explained that the contract was signed in May 2017, but that it had not yet been ratified by the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. His Excellency wished all success in realising this exciting project, which will deliver state-of-the-art medical training for future doctors for the benefit of all BiH’s citizens.

Having in mind the fact that SSST is in partnership with a prominent British university since its founding (University of Buckingham), this visit served as an occasion to confirm and further expand our cooperation and friendship with the British Embassy.
