University Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) in collaboration with the SSST Gymnasium, has once again organized third-in-a-row Annual Conference for Teachers in Secondary Education – ACTS. New and affirmative educational practice, innovative approach in teaching process and relaxing techniques able to help educators in the process of understanding students and overcoming difficulties in teaching process, have been on the agenda of conference lecturers which exceeded all expectations and gave some “food for thought” to more than 60 secondary school teachers all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference was officially opened after the introductory notes by Emina Ganic, the SSST Gymnasium Managing Board President and the acting Dean of Students at the University SSST, Armin Zahirovic, Gymnasium SSST Director Executive, and Lamija Husic, the Assistant to the Minister for Secondary and Adult Education (Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton). All participants were able to know more about various projects by professionals in a sense of unique educational approach focused on children with disabilities, following the presentations of Dr. Aida Saracevic and founder of multidisciplinary school School&School. As for the Panel on Technological Innovation, the lecturers were Adin Begić, Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator; Emina Mekić and professor at the Department of Computer Sciences Dr. Jasminka Hasic. Finally, the participants of the third panel have managed to relax all participants and teach them on the newest techniques when it comes to challenges involving education: Sanda Mesinovic, the Kundalini Yoga instructor who gave up marketing to pursue this technique, and renowned theatre actress, Ms. Selma Alispahic, the recipient of numerous theatre awards. They both concluded the conference with a note that inspiration always comes from the inside and that the teaching process represents the art of knowledge transmission, but also the art of overcoming obstacles in impossible situations.
University SSST will continue to question and seek the possibilities for improvement of the educational system through continuous networking with teachers all over the state and beyond, looking to create a unique platform for educators, researchers and all other participants of the educational process.
