One of the major areas of my interest has been effect of proinflammatory enzymes, particularly myeloperoxidase that plays a significant role in immune surveillance and host defense mechanisms. However, increased MPO activity has been linked to a number of pathologies with compelling evidence in initiation and progression of inflammatory events. Recent research efforts are focused towards deciphering enzyme mechanistic pathways, involvement of oxidative stress and design of effective MPO inhibitors that could subdue inflammatory actions of MPO and subsequent development of different pathologies.

RESEARCH INTEREST

  • One of the major areas of my interest has been effect of proinflammatory enzymes, particularly myeloperoxidase that plays a significant role in immune surveillance and host defense mechanisms. However, increased MPO activity has been linked to a number of pathologies with compelling evidence in initiation and progression of inflammatory events. Recent research efforts are focused towards deciphering enzyme mechanistic pathways, involvement of oxidative stress and design of effective MPO inhibitors that could subdue inflammatory actions of MPO and subsequent development of different pathologies
  • Another area of interest is synthesis, molecular modeling, anticancer, and antioxidant properties of different metal complexes: structure-activity relationships.
